44 per cent of businesses in the UK do not have a cyber security strategy in place, reports ComputerWeekly.com. The report, published by the Institute of Directors and Barclays, noted that companies failed to realise the value of their data, further claiming that small, medium and large firms must consider the best way to protect themselves against what may be a defining challenge for business. The report, which was based on a survey of 844 IoD members in December of 2016, also found that whilst respondents were aware of the threat presented by cyber crime, just over half had protected all their devices. Under the new General Data Protection Regulation, in the event of a cyber attack, reporting on cyber breaches will become mandatory. Notably, four out of 10 respondents said they would not know the process involved should this occur.
